In application of the provisions of Article 54 of the Organic Law of the Supreme Council of the Judicial Power, and in accordance with the provisions of the amended text of the joint decision between the President Delegate and the Minister of Justice regarding the composition of the joint committee on coordination in the judicial administration field, which was signed on April 6, 2021, and promulgated in the Official Gazette No. 6988 on May 20, 2021, the aforementioned committee held its third meeting which included the Supreme Council of the Judicial Power, the Ministry of Justice, and the Presidency of the Public Prosecution, on Monday, April 25, 2022 at the headquarters of the Supreme Council of the Judicial Power.

The meeting seeks to promote coordination between institutions which are actively involved in the justice system, while taking into account that the joint committee is the mechanism which handles coordination in the judicial administration field, with a view to providing the necessary conditions to guarantee the optimal management of this administration and ensuring its efficiency, as well as securing the proper functioning of the justice system.

The meeting addressed a number of topics of paramount importance, namely:

  • The condition of the new buildings of Rabat courts;
  • The condition of Casablanca courts;
  • The activation of the new resident-judge centers;
  • The transfer of the Judges’ Department to the Supreme Council of the Judicial Power;
  • The inauguration of new court buildings;
  • The attendance of the Minister of Justice at a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Judicial Power.

The meeting concluded by emphasizing the importance of coordination and cooperation between the governmental authority in charge of justice, the judicial power, and the Presidency of the Public Prosecution, as well as valorizing the positivity that characterizes the relationship between the three actor institutions in the justice sector. It was also agreed to take all the necessary measures to improve courts’ infrastructure, and modernize and digitize their work, along with advancing humane resources capacities, in line with the aspirations of the justice system reform project, and with the aim of bringing the judiciary closer to citizens, improving their access to justice, and providing the services prescribed for their interest under the best conditions.
